IRAS COTIS is an interfaith working community and a national network committed to interreligious and intercultural dialogue.
IRAS COTIS was founded in 1992 as an interfaith working community and national network. It is sponsored by roughly 70 religious communities and organisations in Switzerland, including the SIG, that are committed to interreligious and intercultural dialogue. The SIG is represented on the Board of IRAS COTIS by General Secretary Jonathan Kreutner.
Tasks of IRAS COTIS
IRAS COTIS aims to foster dialogue, exchange and cooperation among people of different religious and cultural backgrounds, and in doing so reduce prejudice and fears and contribute to social cohesion in Switzerland. To achieve these goals, IRAS COTIS initiates and runs interreligious projects in the fields of education, encounter and networking.
Enhancing religious peace and religious freedom
As the umbrella organisation of Switzerland’s Jewish communities, the SIG cultivates regular informal contacts with representatives of other religious communities. Besides participating in IRAS COTIS, the SIG is also active in several other interreligious organisations.
